Objectives

    • Establish alternatives to 40 hour in person trainings through HHS in the form of virtual seminar and self-paced online courses when appropriate and helpful.
    • Designated the self-paced online course throughΒ CASAT Learning GroupΒ in Nevada forΒ Peer Support Specialist Training 101Β as accepted in North Carolina for applicant prospects as an accessible alternative to get certified.
    • Explore concrete, safe, and standardized ways to advance Peer Support into virtual, computer, and internet spaces, both for paid specialists and disabled clientele.
    • Approve self-paced computer courses and trainings for teaching vulnerable adults vital computer skills.
    • Collaborate with other state programs across the country around Supported Decision Making, Safeguarding, and Virtual Employment Programs.
    • Secure funding for these expansion programs through relevant grants.

Prayer for Relief

    • Approve an Asynchronous styled online course for Peer Support Specialists to get trained virtually. There are some very good courses offered by CASAT Learning Group. Peer Support Specialist 101:SELF-PACED ONLINE COURSE-Self Paced Online Courses (casatlearning.org) Live Virtual Trainings with paid AudioVisual and Recording Support by a Tech Specialist, so that applicants can attend in person or virtually. Online must see and hear in person activity and in person must see and hear online activity. This can be done with basic equipment.
    • Establish Chat and Text Peer and Agency lines for services such as the Emergency Hotline, Vaya Contact Apparatus, and individual agency and clinic communication with Clients. Start with Peer-run Chat systems. Train disabled Peers to get certified as Specialists and hire them to assist with this process. Funding and grant opportunities may exist for these programs under the new NG911 Federal Funding.
    • Train VAYA workers and administration in the ethics and good practices of Tele-Health and Digital Accessibility. Make the virtual option available for clients who need it. Treat this like an Americans with Disabilities Act Complaint. When somebody expresses they cannot, due to an impairment or disability, participate in training, receive services, or reasonable employment accommodations, have a path of recourse.
    • Establish Grant Funding Opportunities for β€˜Backend’ Peer Support Programs and Structures that advance and open the field to populations who have been restricted from services, training, and employment from the termination of Tele-Health and Virtual Services.
